My husband and I were desperate to escape from the mediocre, at best, all inclusive resort food and found this AMAZING gem of a restaurant. We too cruised back and forth trying to find a place to eat and Mosquito Blue immediately stands out, but were a little nervous because it was so empty. The decor is amazing and eye catching! It looks like something straight out of SoHo. When we approached the menu on display, the owner greeted us but was not at all pushy - a nice change from the high pressure "sales" you get from other restaurants on the strip. He informed us that the chef was from Southern Italy and we were immediately sold. My husband and I honeymooned in Southern Italy and we were in Playa celebrating our anniversary. The restaurant was fairly empty - as soon as this place is discovered my guess is that you will be hard pressed to get a reservation.

In short, the meal and service was AMAZING from start to finish. The Beef Carpaccio was some of the best I've had and I HIGHLY recommend the lamb entree. It was adorned with a curious and delicious blend of Serrano chilis and chocolate sauce. WOW!
The price is very reasonable, especially for the quality of food and service - about $15 - $20 for an entree.
